His autobiography, Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance, earned him a Grammy award for Best Spoken Word Album. Oprah Winfrey added his book, The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream, to her book club, which increased its popularity. The sale of his books helped him repay his student loans, which he paid off in 2004.

Obama is a one-woman kind of man. His wife Michelle was his mentor at the law firm they both worked at (Chicago law firm of Sidley Austin) and initially did not want to date him. He pursued his interest in her and in 1991, they were engaged. The couple’s first date was to the movies; they went to see ‘Do the Right Thing’ by Spike Lee. They married in 1992, and have two daughters, Malia and Sasha.

The public ceremony took place on the Monday, 21 january 2013, completing a swearing in of four times.
